Volvo with electronic Speedometer harness locking clip
If you have a speedometer that occasionally stops working, temperature or fuel level gauges drop down, or the alternator is not charging your battery, there is a possibility that a connection to the speedometer cluster is loose. The 4-wire small plug is installed at the back of the speedometer.
Please look for the presence of the plastic locking clip. Chances are – it is not there. There is nothing that will prevent the electrical connector from separating. You will need to lock the connector with the clip that is designed to hold it in place
This clip holds the speedometer signal wire in its place, preventing wires from falling off the speedometer housing
This part is NEW and has not been used. There are tiny tabs, as shown in the picture, that are designed to hold the clip in place once installed. If you remove the clip after installation, these tiny tabs will shear off, rendering the clip useless. These clips are not reusable
So, please understand the following: once the clip is installed and locked in place, the clip cannot be removed without breaking the plastic tabs
